Bridget Hamel (b. 2000, Virginia) is a multimedia artist primarily working in drawing and sculpture. Her artistic exploration concerns itself with the impact of emotions on human behavior, motivation, and decision making. Through works on paper and wax, Hamel intuitively captures transient moments, portraying materials on the verge of melting or being swept away. Her drawings imagine ambiguous atmospheres where phantom images simultaneously dissolve and emerge. Miniature-scaled traces of action and reaction accumulate in her sculptural installations, forming small worlds restless with delicate potentiality. Notably, she is a recipient of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Visual Arts Fellowship and recently participated in the 2023 Yale Norfolk School of Art summer residency program. She earned her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in 2023.
